Mantova and mother's day

Joakim made this exciting-looking card at school for Mother's Day...

Inside, he had done a drawing of me, plus his prospective 'gift' - a 5-tier fruit cake with a candle on top! You gotta love it :)

We also visited Mantova on Sunday. This is a small, beautiful town just over an hour's drive south of Rovereto. It was much less touristy than we expected, perhaps because there are so many other tourist attractions in that area. Mantova is surrounded by three lakes, which makes it look really stunning upon arrival.

We just strolled around the pretty little streets. J. wanted me to take a picture of him here.

"No!!" (it was NOT his day...)

Things improved after we had a delicious ice cream on the market square.

The kids spent a while playing in this little park.

Martijn taking a picture of me while Tobias is sprinting to the other fountain, hoping to be able to climb in before Martijn gets to him... Fortunately T's plan didn't work.
