All the Italian schools are closed for two months during the summer. Most Italian kids will spend a period of this time at one of the many summer schools / camps. We let Joakim attend a 'colonia' at an organic farm in the mountains for one week. J. is very private about his activities away from home, but fortunately for us the organisers took lots of pictures which gave us some insight into how Joakim spent his days:
Collecting bugs was one of the main activities (the other one was cooking and eating!)
One day when Joakim came back he was very excited: "Mum, Dad... today we ate a salad with flowers!!"
On the last day of the colonia there was a small party for parents and siblings, for which the children helped prepare snacks and cakes. Tobias really liked the farm, and hopefully they can go together next year.
